Lichen Planus

Lichen planus is a chronic inflammatory skin condition affecting the skin and/or mucosal surfaces of the body. It may cause a small number or many lesions. Lichen planus is considered an auto-immune disease; factors contributing to its expression may include genetic predisposition, physical and/or emotional stress, injury to the skin, or a systemic viral infection.

This patient had lichen planus confirmed by her dermatologist via biopsy. When she came to see me she'd already undergone 2 rounds of concurrent internal and topical steroids; both times, the lesions had cleared almost completely, only to return again as soon as the course of steroids was completed. Her dermatologist didn't know what else to do for her, and gave her my name.

She came to me in a great deal of discomfort, with much of her body highly inflamed: hot, itchy, swollen, and painful to the touch. These pictures show the work were able to do in three short months of internal herbal medicines and dietary modifications. Her skin continued to improve even beyond this set of "after"pictures, and while she no longer takes the tea and has loosened up on her dietary protocols, her skin remains clear nearly one year later.
